I’m enjoying a week off between classes. Normally we would be preparing to head to the beach for Charles’ birthday but have opted to put that on hold.
My final Greek results are in and I ended up with a 98% final grade. It feels sooo good to have that behind me and I feel very blessed with my grade. During my break I am entertaining myself by reading all about Church History—it really is fascinating. I’ve been busy working out the classes I want to take for the fall. I’m trying to work my schedule around my full time job as a mom and the probability that Charles will be working too. We’re trying to avoid hiring a baby sitter for as long as possible. Thankfully some of the fall classes are available in the evening.
Charles continues to search for work and is daily on the telephone with recruiters. He has had 2 interviews so far but no offers. There are other opportunities in the pipeline so I feel confident something will come soon.
We have been asked to appear in a Seminary video getting created to highlight seminary life. Wow, our first shot at Video fame. I’ll let you know how that develops. The purpose of the video is to send to prospective students to encourage them in their desire to attend Seminary and is being produced by some of my student colleagues.
We’re settling into the social life here at Seminary. Every Friday the families meet to hang out on the lawn and catch up with the past week. We have a lot of fun. The kids are also getting into a routine of fun as they join other seminary kids on the playground after school and have a good few hours of outside playtime. So you see, Seminary life is not all work and no play : ). Charles has also teamed up with one of the neighbors and we now take their kids to school in the morning along with our daughter while they bring them back in the afternoon. With the mornings getting darker however, our son will soon need to use a flashlight to find his bus at 7 AM.
The only bad news over the past few weeks is the theft of our son’s Venus Fly Trap plant from the front of our home. He handled the loss very well considering it had been a present from a good friend. Unfortunately our house is beside a public path so anyone could have taken it. Our son had his first experience providing a statement to the campus police and he thought that was really cool. We let the local authorities know for logistical purposes more than having a desire to find the plant. As you know my favorite saying is “people are funny animals” and it is easy to be lulled into a sense of security on a Seminary campus.
Charles took our son to visit the local Cub Scout Pack and they are in the process of getting back into Scouts for another year. They both had fun and ice cream was well supplied only Thunder ended the meeting early.
I soon face the driver license and Tag change in the
That is it for today, thanks again for all your cards, prayers and support.
