Hello from Charles May 5th 2009
It has been a little crazy here so apologies that the news update did not happen last month.
So to get the bad news out of the way first. My employer decided my current role was no longer needed. They offered me an alternative but it was not something that I specialized in so they decided to let me go. Last day is Friday May 15th. Starting to research the current job market to see what keywords I need to include in my resume so that the recruiters can find it and then me.
Diane is in extreme busy mode as she studies for final exams, write final papers and prepares her candidacy paperwork for the Session to review. Expect to see her normal again around the 15th.
Another one of B's fish passed away while she was at camp, however she is handling it very well. She has lost 3 fish since the beginning of the year. I thought another one of her fish was sick but now I just think it is hiding since I removed its buddy that had died. Yet again proves that fish have memories. B seems to have enjoyed herself at camp with the girl scouts, not really sure what she did (since Diane & I did not go) but do know that she rode a horse and lost another tooth (somehow the tooth fairy found her tent and gave her more money than she gets at home). A week or so later she lost another tooth however it seems we still have issues at our house with the tooth fairy not turning up on schedule, not sure if any of you have experienced that issue.
S & I last weekend spent the weekend (Friday & Saturday) sleeping onboard a decommissioned aircraft carrier USS Yorktown. This ship is berthed in Charleston South Carolina and is made available for scouts to rent as a camp experience. Luckily I found a good bunk beside a bulk head and I had packed some ear plugs so compared to every other camp I have been on, I actually got a good night sleep. TAPS was at 11PM, followed by Reveille at 6AM so for me that was my normal hours. For others it was a shock to the system. The ladies were housed in Officer Quarters while the males got the enlisted but at least our AC work unlike in the officer quarters where they resorted to an old fan. It was tough on Saturday night since we had scouts come in just for that night and they did not recognize the tiredness of the Friday night scouts so were a little loud. At 2AM Sunday morning supposedly a scout fell off the top bunk (4 th bunk up) in another pack and woke up a whole bunch of people. I myself never heard a thing. While at the ship, we took a ferry to go see Fort Summter where the American Civil War Happened. Scouts enjoyed themselves. On Saturday night, we had a program about aircraft led by a former Navy Pilot. Kids got to see planes taking off and landing on carriers combined with images of those that made mistakes and as the former pilot said 'would not be going home'.
That is it for now,
Will keep you informed of the job search
