Ahhhh! Spring Break--a chance to catch up with you all. The kids and I are having fun spending some quality time together over this week; while Charles sweats away in the office. We all seem to have got over our colds that plagued us over the past few weeks. I even got too sick to attend Church one Sunday. Surprisingly the medicine that we give the kids worked best on whatever the bug was. So Charles and I took kids doses and were soon as right as rain. Maybe Seminary is making us into kids again.

Woke up the other day to find the cars & bicycles all covered in yellow pollen. Our front step is yellow apart from where we walk. I’ll have to delegate to Charles to take the cars and get them washed. One of his bosses at work basically said this yellow event lasts for around 10 days down here. Now, we also have had lots of rain to the point that the kids lower playground was turned into a mini pond. So in that respect, some kids rang the doorbell asking if we had a flotation device that they could use on the mini lake. If only I had answered the door, I might have suggested the power of prayer.

B has started her advanced classes at school as is truly excited to be involved in them. Her projects are more involved now but she does not hesitate to get on them as soon as she brings them home from school. To that end, Charles purchased her a desk the other day as she was struggling to do this work on a 1 foot square night stand but she was doing it despite the size.

S is continuing to enjoy scouts & school. Charles is working to get the Scout summer camp all sorted out for them both and one of his fellow scouts may come along too. S school project over Spring Break is to create a picture alphabet book based on the Revolutionary War. Look forward to sharing that with you. S now has a rolling backpack which is helping to keep his back from hurting as he carries all those heavy text books to school.

Both the kids are signed up for a soccer, computer camp, scout camp, and church music camp during the summer break. For the other times, we will probably hire someone to play with them unless Charles is out of work again which at this point we can’t tell.

Charles had fun trying to make it to church the other weekend during the Atlanta Marathon. I was too sick to go which was just as well. Sunday School was a complete wash out. You have to question what the organizers were thinking to run the race along the roads to several large churches between the hours of 9 & 12 on a Sunday morning. Charles left at 9:20 and did not arrive until 10:10 and it is normally under 15 minutes. I had to calm him down when he got home because he was threatening to write to the Governor and Mayor in complaint.

We had good news the other day for one of our friends (Matt). He received a chaplaincy position that he had been looking forward to. It has been months since he had graduated from Columbia and he and his wife (who is also a graduate of Columbia) have been struggling to find stability with their new calling, now it seems as if it has found them. We wish them both well in their move to Tennessee (The state we were married in).

I’m half way through this semester. It’s hard to believe that I have almost completed one year of Seminary. I’m looking forward to a great internship this summer at the church we are attending. And we are already talking about the alternative context trip—I think I’m going to go to Mexico. The trips are taken during the January term and Eastern Europe and the Appalachian trips are cold, cold, cold, cold. I don’t really want to stay in Atlanta or go to Jamaica. So I’m putting sunny Mexico as my first choice. I originally thought that Eastern Europe would be nice, but there are only 6-7 spaces available and just about everybody else wants to go there too. There are more spaces available for Mexico. I’ll do this trip in January 2009. Not to mention the awesome Kathy Dawson will the escorting us to Mexico. Kathy Dawson is part of the Christian Education team here and I really enjoyed her class Faith and Human Development. Good company, good weather seems like a win/win all the way around.

I’m waiting patiently for my mid-term exam grade from New Testament. The professor has assured us that she has been working diligently to get them graded and what she saw so far she was impressed with.

Well that is it for now. Sorry for the delay in posting the news, (I’m terrible with Birthday cards too.) I will work to do better and thank you for your continued support.
