Hello from Charles 4-10-2011
We are busy now as Spring Break for both Diane and the kids wrap up and everybody heads into their final weeks of the school year.
Diane graduates on the 14th of May and despite some calls from Churches nothing yet has come to pass. She has interviewed at one church via the phone but they advised it will be months before they go to face to face and she may not even be considered for that. Other churches that have contacted her are so remote in location that I would not be able to stay employed so we currently have ruled them out.
In addition to dealing with finding the work opportunity we also deal with the June Seminary Housing exit. At this time we have both been looking at buying and renting in Decatur but without success. Rental wise there are only 2 places available in our price range and both had issues from a family point of view. Apartments in Decatur mainly come in 2 bedrooms except for a very small number that are not in a great location. Please pray for us as we try to work out our future housing arrangements.
My work goes well and my manager would like for me to stay on and is willing to do what he can to keep me busy at 40hrs a week as opposed to the part time that I have been for the past 18 months. I have no option but to seek 40hrs since our housing costs and Health Insurance costs will be about triple what we pay today. Diane will no longer be eligible for discounted Health Insurance since she is not employed by the Church or a student.
The kids are enjoying themselves as usual and loving that Spring has arrived. They are outside most of the time since it is so nice. We all spent the day yesterday at the Botanical Gardens in Atlanta and got to walk the walkway in the sky. Photos to come soon. Both the kids loved the Japanese Garden and would like to build their own wherever we end up. We saw frogs and Turtles and S got a new Venus Fly Trap to replace his last one that died during a rain storm. His first one that was thriving was stolen at the beginning of our stay at Seminary.
S is doing well in Scouts and is at the rank of Star. His next rank "Life" should be earned during Summer Camp which will put him well on the way to being an Eagle Scout since that will be his remaining rank after "Life". He and I went scout camping a few weeks ago in a terrible Thunderstorm and survived but without much sleep. I made peace with God as the storm came through during the night since there was not much else I could do. Fortunately for me the leak in my shared adult tent was fixed during the day so I did not deal with it at night. S found his tent got some water as the bottom of it ended up parked in a lake by the next morning.
B is being as creative as ever, always working with her hands on some form of art. She does not like that S goes camping as much as he does and that she does not. Her favorite subject at school is math and I sometimes catch her doing math puzzles. She enjoys reading a lot so the other day we got her a nice pink lamp for her bedside so that she can read into the evening.
Everybody but me the other day got to see the new Johnny Dep movie Rango. It was fun I heard.
I will write again soon to keep you all up to date with our House / Job Hunt.
Take Care,
Charles
